"Yellow Belly" is a term used in The Land Before Time franchise, in reference the theropod dinosaur Beipiaosaurus. The creatures have first appeared in The Land Before Time XIII: The Wisdom of Friends.
Appearance[]
Yellow Bellies resemble dodo birds to a degree, being portly, feathered creatures with large beaks and short legs. They come in many different colors, and have long, pennaceous feathers extending from their heads and rears.
The term "Yellow Belly" derives from the very large, colorful stomach of known individuals. It is unknown why the creatures have such a feature, though it may play a part in mating rituals.
Behavior[]

Yellow Bellies are very laid-back, usually spending their days gorging themselves with berries, which are considered a delicacy by the creatures.
When not eating, they can often be seen dancing, singing, chatting, sleeping, or goofing around. When threatened by predators, they mimic plants by sticking their rear ends in the air and hiding their extremities. If the ground is too hard for them to do this they will bounce on their bellies or sing to stun their enemies.
Personality[]
Yellow Bellies are not very intelligent. They are very goofy, and they don't take things seriously most of the time. For example, while they looking for shelter during the storm, the Yellow Bellies seem to be more curious about the storm than concerned. They also laugh at everything, like when Loofah, Doofah, and Foobie point in different directions which causes them to laugh, and, while taking shelter during the storm, a Yellow Belly farts, which triggers the entire flock to laugh. They are very careless as well. The flock gobbles up most of the berries before the gang can have some, and, later, Ducky and Petrie run towards the shelter first with the Yellow Bellies rushing behind them which causes them to be sat on by accident by a pile of Yellow Bellies, they then fart on them. The Yellow Bellies' favorite things to do are dancing and singing. The Yellow Bellies are very friendly towards each other and the gang. The Yellow Bellies are very optimistic about everything.
Relationships[]
They became very good friends with the gang while traveling to Berry Valley despite their different views on things.

- They are supposed to be based on Beipiaosaurus even though they look nothing like the genus.
- They are by far the most disliked characters in the Land Before Time franchise; being criticized for being extremely annoying and too silly by most fans and critics.
- The Yellow Bellies Loofah and Doofah are voiced by Cuba Gooding Jr. and Sandra Oh.
- They are the first characters to fart in The Land Before Time franchise.
