Thneedville is a location in The Lorax. All the characters except for The Once-ler and The Lorax live there. It was originally named by The Once-ler based on his hit creation, the Thneed. The mayor in the movie was Aloysius O'Hare, owner of the O'Hare Air Company. It's also possible that Thneedville has went through several other changes in support to the environment after the movie's ending, where you can see here.

Until the seed was planted, there was no nature in the city, and most of it was made of either plastic or electronics.

Thneedville was designed as a utopia town by the Once-ler, to further advertise his product after which the place is named (the Thneed), but just as soon as his model was becoming a reality, the last Truffula tree fell and the Thneed factory closed down. Over time, O'Hare took over the town as mayor, being seen as a celebrity, for selling bottled oxygen (O'Hare Air), which was seen advertised. Everyone saw the place as a perfect home, with no problems. This excludes Audrey, and Ted.

To go further, the parents (Dan and Rose) were unaware of the danger of air pollution, so they believed it was alright to allow their children to swim in chlorinated pools and ponds, to the point where Wesley began to glow a luminous green. That was, until the walls of Thneedville came down from Ted's machinery operation 'accident', and everyone (except O'Hare) decided it was time for a change, and joined Ted, Audrey, Granny Norma, and Bernice (Ted's mother) in their act to plant a Truffula tree in the town center.
