A Thneed is a highly versatile garment knitted from the foliage of a Truffula Tree which can be converted into nearly anything. It costs $3.98 according to The Lorax Book and The Lorax film.
History[]
The first Thneed was created by the Once-ler after finding the perfect material, a Truffula tree, for invention. After the first tree is cut down the Lorax is summoned, warning him of what will come, but the Once-ler ignores his threats. His Thneed didn't go un-noticed, and went into a high demand. In order to fulfil that demand, the Once-ler calls his family to the valley to help him make the Thneeds.
He goes onto cut down more trees and popularise his brand and name. The Once-ler, now nicknamed the Greedler, has become a prideful and greedy man. Now extremely wealthy the Once-ler lives in his factory living with luxury. Thneeds have gone up in sales and have sold over 526.8 thousand of them.

The Once-ler still denying he has done anything wrong feels incredibly guilty to see the last of the Truffula trees being chopped down. All of the animals including the Lorax leaves. Not only the animals but his family as well leaves with them, them now being disappointed in him for the end of his business.
