Sing 2 is an upcoming American computer-animated musical comedy film produced by Illumination and is the sequel to the 2016 film Sing.
The film is set to star Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, Nick Kroll, Taron Egerton and Tori Kelly reprising their roles from the first film.
It is scheduled to be released on December 22, 2021, by Universal Pictures.
Premise
Buster, Rosita, Ash, Johnny, Meena, and Gunter prepare for a bigger stage as they leave Moon Theater for the big city.
Production
On January 25, 2017, Universal and Illumination announced plans for a sequel, originally scheduled for release on December 25, 2020. However, on April 12, 2019, the release date was pushed back to July 2, 2021, accommodating the release of DreamWorks Animation's The Croods 2.
On April 1, 2020, Universal pushed Sing 2's release date to December 22, 2021, with Minions 2: The Rise of Gru taking the July 2, 2021 release date due to the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on the film industry.

- Sing will be the third Illumination film to become a franchise, following Despicable Me and The Secret Life of Pets.
- Sing is also Universal's seventh animated film to become a franchise after An American Tail, The Land Before Time, Balto, Curious George, Despicable Me and The Secret Life of Pets.
