Roz: I am not programmed to be a mother.
Pinktail: No one does. We just make it up.
―Pinktail encouraging Roz to adopt Brightbill.

Pinktail is a major character in the film, The Wild Robot. She is a material who gives Roz some advice on raising Brightbill.

Background[]

Most of the animals on the island are cold and fearful of Roz, but Pinktail is one of the few who actually warms up to the robot quickly. She empathizes with Roz as the robot isn't exactly equipped to nurture young gosling. Being a mother to several other opossums herself, Pinktail helps by giving Roz a quick crash course on how to be a mom.

Official Description[]

Given the fact that she's birthed and raised multiple litters of baby possums, Pinktail knows a thing or two about motherhood. As soon as she sees Brightbill imprinting on Roz, she swings into action, imparting all sorts of parental wisdom on the robot.[1]

The Wild Robot[]

In the film adaptation, Pinktail basically replaces the character Loudwing.

Roz decided to give Pinktail a newly hatched Brightbill. Pinktail eventually noticed the situation around Roz. The possum explains to the robot that the gosling considers her a mother and explains that caring for the gosling is now the main task, and thus Roz perceives it as receiving a task.

Pinktail and the children are later seen trying to get Brightbill to learn to swim and then during weight training, where the possum urged the goose with a cheeky tone.

Pinktail was one of the animals saved in the winter. She also stood up for Roz against the RECO robots along with other animals.
