Monkey Man is a 2024 American action-thriller film directed by Dev Patel in his feature directorial debut, with a story by Patel and screenplay by Patel, Paul Angunawela and John Collee. Premise[]
Kid, an anonymous young man working in an underground fight club, sets out to exact revenge against a group of corrupt leaders, who are responsible for his mother's death and also taking advantage of the poor and powerless. Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, Kid's mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him. ¹

On October 29, 2018, it was reported that Dev Patel would make his directorial debut with an action thriller film titled Monkey Man. On March 12, 2021, it was announced that filming was completed and Netflix had bought worldwide rights to the film, described as \"John Wick in Mumbai.\" However, Jordan Peele saw the film and, feeling that it deserved a theatrical release instead, later acquired it under his Monkeypaw Productions banner, which has a distribution deal with Universal Pictures. The film features fight choreography by Brahim Chab, an action actor and choreographer who has worked with Jackie Chan on the films Dragon Blade and Vanguard, Scott Adkins on Ninja: Shadow of a Tear, Boyka: Undisputed and Abduction, Donnie Yen on Big Brother, Jean-Claude Van Damme on Frenchy and Pound of Flesh, and most recently Nicholas Tse on Customs Frontline. ⁵
