London is the heavily populated capital of England and the setting of several scenes in the film Minions.
Appearances[]
London first appears when Scarlet Overkill brings the Minions to her home and introduces them to her husband Herb Overkill. She then assigns them a mission to steal the crown from Queen Elizabeth II. The Minions disguise themselves as women and enter the Tower of London to find the crown, but they end up making Bob the king of England. Later, Scarlet tricks the Minions and sends them to a dungeon under Buckingham Palace, where they are tortured by Herb. The Minions manage to escape and go to Westminster Abbey to stop Scarlet's coronation. In the end, Kevin is knighted by the Queen and the Minions celebrate with her and the other characters.
Buildings[]
Some of the notable buildings in London that appear in the film are:
- Tower of London: A historic castle where the crown jewels are kept. The Minions break into the tower and try to steal the crown, but they encounter the keeper of the crown and a group of guards. They also hypnotize some of the guards with Herb's Hypno-Hat.
- Buckingham Palace: The official residence of the monarch of the United Kingdom. Bob is taken to the palace after becoming the king and enjoys the royal life with the other Minions. Scarlet later invades the palace and captures the Minions, who are then locked up in a dungeon. The palace also has a secret entrance to Westminster Abbey through a sewer.
- Westminster Abbey: A large Gothic church where coronations and other ceremonies take place. Scarlet plans to be crowned as the queen of England at the abbey, but the Minions interrupt her and fight her and Herb. The abbey is also where Kevin is knighted by the Queen and the Minions celebrate with the other characters.
