On October 6, 2023, the film was confirmed to be released in 2025, while it was also confirmed that Dog Man and an unannounced film would be animated entirely at partner studios (excluding Sony Pictures Imageworks which was named as the animation service for an unannounced sequel), similar to Jellyfish Pictures for Spirit Untamed and Mikros Animation for Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie and Orion and the Dark.
