Distortus rex is a mutant Tyrannosaurus and the secondary antagonist of Jurassic World: Rebirth. The Distortus rex was created on Ile Saint-Hubert in a research facility for Jurassic World. Multiple attempts to perfect an experimental Tyrannosaurus were made, which were all unsuccessful. The mutants that resulted from testing were deemed Distortus rex.

Background[]

Creations[]

Distortus rex was created sometime before 2010.It was a genetic experiment, alongside others like the Mutadon, created under a dinosaur experimentation project team at a research facility on Ile Saint-Hubert. The individual seen in Rebirth is denoted as "D-REX V.23.111", implying it is one of many attempts to engineer a D. rex (specifically, this was InGen’s 26th attempt at engineering and experimenting a D. rex[8]). Like the Mutadons, it was deemed unfit for exhibition and left on Ile Saint-Hubert to be studied.

Breakout[]

Sometime before 2010, a scientist improperly discarded a Snickers wrapper before participating in a routine examination of the D. rex. The wrapper was sucked into a vent on the D. rex's containment cell door, causing it to be jammed. A technician noticed InGen personnel shooting the loose D. rex over a surveillance camera and promptly put the lab on lockdown. All of the scientists that were set to perform the examination managed to escape except for the one who dropped the wrapper, whom the D. rex promptly dispatched.

In the Wild[]

After the subsequent evacuation Distortus rex escaped into the wild. The door was later seen to be gone, so that is how it likely got out. At some point, the D. rex also destroyed its containment cell. The mutant became the island's apex predator.
