"Bad" is a song by the American singer Michael Jackson. It was released by Epic Records on September 7, 1987, as the second single from his seventh studio album, Bad. The song was written and composed by Jackson, and produced by Jackson and Quincy Jones.
The song "Bad" reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts on October 24, 1987, stayed at the #1 position for two consecutive weeks, and has sold over 8.5 million copies worldwide to date. It was rebellious without being controversial, and it worked well for Jackson despite the ludicrous album cover.
The song "Bad" appeared in two animated films, Megamind and Despicable Me 3, both featuring villains who idolize Jackson and use his music and style to express themselves.

In the 2010 film Megamind, the song "Bad" is used in a scene where the titular character, a blue-skinned super-villain, escapes from prison and celebrates his freedom by dancing and singing along to the song in his lair. He also uses the song as his theme music when he confronts his nemesis, the superhero Metro Man, and later when he fights his former sidekick, Minion, who has betrayed him.⁴
Despicable Me 3[]
In the 2017 film Despicable Me 3, the song "Bad" is used in a scene where the main antagonist, Balthazar Bratt, a former child star and super-villain obsessed with the 1980s, steals a large diamond from a ship and escapes from the agents Gru and Lucy, who are married and work for the Anti-Villain League. Bratt uses his 80s style gadgets and music to fight them off, while Gru and Lucy use their spy skills and vehicles to chase him. The song is also played during the end credits of the film.⁵
